George Anthony III
In 2006 it seemed as though the Lord’s will was that my family and I would move to Alabama. I had lived in a suburb of Chicago since I was born. My parents adopted me at a young age and almost two years later adopted my sister from Korea. We were both so blessed to have grown up in a home where we graced the doors of the church every time they were open. At the age of 5 I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior and was baptized 5 years later.
It was in 2003 while I was attending college at the Word of Life Bible Institute in upstate New York, that I felt God tug at my heart about being involved in full time ministry. I attended there for 2 years and graduated with a Bible degree. From there I transferred to Baptist Bible College in Clarks Summit, PA majoring in Music. It was after college I moved to Alabama to be with my family and pursue becoming a Worship Pastor at a church.
I attended Lindsay Lane Baptist Church with my family when I moved down here but soon took on the position of Worship Leader/Youth Pastor at First Union Baptist Church in Athens. It was there that I was licensed and ordained as a pastor. I returned to Lindsay Lane for a few years working with the youth praise band while I began looking for another church to serve in.
In 2008, the Lord led me to First Baptist Tanner. I came on staff that year as a Youth Pastor interim as well as serve as the full time pianist. It’s amazing to me to see how much growth has been in this church in the last 10 years. God is doing great things at First Baptist Tanner and I’m excited to see what He has in store for the future. I now serve as the Assistant Worship Leader as well as the full time pianist.
I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I’ve also become a die hard Crimson Tide fan since moving here. ROLL TIDE!
